return to: How it all began
Day 1: Saturday (Arrival from Germany)
Starting on Saturday Morning at 3 o’clock in Bavaria, we had after 4 hours our first tank stop in the area of Ramstein in Germany. The Austin was lashed securely to the trailer and after a little breakfast break and 2 other tank stops in Belgium we arrived the ferry at 14 o clock at Calais.
The british border control check the trailer if everything was secured and then we could enter the ship to Dover at 15:00 and arrived Dover at half past 16 (british time). The Austin on the trailer was ok and we started to take the last 3 hours from Dover to Lyndhurst which we arrived short past 19 o’clock.
After finding a parking place for our trailer and the towing car we were happy to have dinner at the hotel.
The weather was a mixture of sunshine and clouds but without rain.
After a british beer we found a soft bed for wonderful dreams about the next days we are allowed to spend in the New Forest.
16 hours on the road are long enough but are worth to bring back the Austin to UK after he left it in the mid of the 70’s.
