Day 4: Tuesday (First Tour through the New Forest to Fortinbridge and arrival of all other club member)
This is the day when all other member will arrive at the Best Western Forest Lodge Hotel in Lyndhurst (arrival was planned for the afternoon).
We and Richard and Jane prepared our Austins (i had first download my Austin from the trailer) checked oil and water and then we were ready to go.
Our tour through the New Forest was interrupted by some small rain showers and after near one hour we reached Fortinbridge, a very nice village on the river Avon. The search for a parking area was a lithe bit complicated but Richard in his Open Tourer in front found it after a while.
We entered the parking area following Richard who was searching for maybe a special parking box and last but not least we found two empty boxes side by side.
After closing all side windows we went to the main street and the next shower lead us directly into a coffee shop where we made a little coffee break.
When the shower was over we continued our tour and had to enter again a shop (now a fashion shop) because of the next shower (with some hagel). Silvia bought a scarf and then we could continue our walk.
The bridge over the river Avon was our next stop and Richard tried to make some photos of the bridge from the opposite site of the river.
The tourist office was now our next target and we found some additional information about interesting points in the New Forest.
One of these points, a place where reindeers will be fed was on the way back to Lyndhurst.
The rain shower become less and we entered our Austins for driving back to Lyndhurst, having a little stop at this reindeer point.
Here are some snapshots:
When we arrived at the Hotel, most of the other member were alread there and Tony and his wife Pat welcomed every member and we could get our Rally Pack.
After a lot of small welcomes we could take one ore more drinks in the bar before going in for dinner at 7.30.
The Dinner (3 courses) was served in a big dining room where we could set together on round tables. All member were openminded and it was wonderful to have a lot of interesting talks with people which we didn’t known before. The feeling which we could receive from all member was very positive and is exactly this impression i got from the club when i was in mail contact.
